My Story
I grew up in Florida (Miami, Orlando and Tampa to be exact), and then moved to Chiberia, aka Chicago, before my first son was born. Weather aside, I still live — and have grown to love — life in the Midwest!
I’ve held different titles in my career to include Author, Publisher, CEO, but my life’s calling was always to become an entrepreneur. Soon after college, I started my first business with no capital, a ‘lil website development company called B + B, Inc.
With knowledge of digital media under my built, I launched ChicagoBeauty.com, which eventually launched into 30 cities under a new name, PrettyCity.com.
An exceedingly contentious divorce landed me in a spot where I had no money, no access to my life’s savings and no ability to run my company during the pendency of my divorce. (Yup, I just went there.)
I also had two sons and a third on the way!
And so, I once again delved into starting a new business, this time with the support of a business partner, Johanna Grange. Together we launched a Chicago-based Social Media Marketing agency called Oak Street Social.
We started Oak Street Social with a $500 investment each in 2013 and by 2018 we were named “one of the social media marketing agencies branding the future” and boasted a client roster of nearly 50 top brands, and up and coming names; building another successful, profitable, completely debt-free company in a matter of a few years with a tiny initial investment.
Entrepreneurship is my personal passion. Being an entrepreneur is the one thing I wanted to do for as long as I can remember. And so, I did.
